Finding Altvaid B&B

Driving from the Skye Bridge will take you just under an hour. Follow the signs to Portree (A87) as far as Sligachan Hotel and camping grounds and then take the left turn toward Dunvegan (A863). Continue for 13 miles. 4 miles after the village of Struan you’ll find the (Feolig) Harlosh loop road turn-off on the left hand side of the road. Follow that around the peninsular to a T-intersection (with a telephone booth to your left). Turn right and continue 1 mile. Altvaid B&B is just beyond the first crest on your right featuring a bridge and pond in the front garden.

If you do miss the first turn-off to Harlosh, don’t panic…there are two! You can take the very next left from the A863, a further 2 miles. This road does continue past Dunvegan to the local Tourist Information Centre, the Castle and beyond.

Driving from Portree will take about 35 minutes. Leaving Portree on the A87 travel 4 miles before turning left onto the A850 and follow the road all the way to the Dunvegan. Turn hard left onto the A863 and continue through Dunvegan for 3 miles to the sign posted (Vatten) Harlosh loop road turn-off. Follow the road for approximately 2 miles just before the crest of the second hill. Altvaid B&B is on your left.
